1st Quarter Anticipated Releases | 2020

Hi everyone!

I am doing this post a little bit different than I did in 2019. There are so many titles that I’m interested in this year and there is no way I can pick just a few. So I am going to break this down and do an anticipated releases post every quarter.

These books will be released from January-March!

As always, if you want to know more about any of these, their Goodreads pages will be linked.

A Heart So Fierce and Broken by Brigid Kemmerer

Release date: January 7

I have actually already read this, but I am SO excited to have the book in my hands. This is the second book in the Cursebreaker series.

Come Tumbling Down by Seanan McGuire

Release date: January 7

This is the fifth book in the Wayward Children series. I am so excited to see what these characters are up to.

Lucky Caller by Emma Mills

Release date: January 14

I swear Emma Mills always has the most beautiful covers. Lucky Caller involves radio broadcasting and fandoms so that is right up my alley. I am expecting this to be a fluffy contemporary with an adorable romance and amazing friendships.

Dark and Deepest Red by Anna-Marie McLemore

Release date: January 14

This story follows two time periods where women fall ill to a sickness that makes them dance in the streets until their death. I have never read anything by this author and honestly their backlist titles don’t interest me very much, but Dark and Deepest Red sounds so good! The cover is gorgeous as well.

Yes No Maybe So by Becky Albertalli and Aisha Saeed

Release Date: February 4

I literally have no idea what this book is about but it is partially written by Becky Albertalli and that is enough for me to be excited about.

Belle Révolte by Linsey Miller

Release date: February 4

This is another one that I have already read! I really loved this and I want everyone to read it!! My review will be up very soon.

The King of Crows by LIbba Bray

Release date: February 4

The fourth and final book in The Diviners series. I have to admit, I am not caught up to it yet, but I absolutely loved the first book and I can’t wait to read more.

House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas

Release date: March 3

Okay so before I get real excited for this book…can anyone tell me if this has anything to do with her other series?? I have only read Throne of Glass and I really don’t have an interest in continuing on. Help me out here!

Bone Crier’s Moon by Kathryn Purdie

Release date: March 10

I am literally obsessed with this cover.

Night of the Dragon by Julie Kagawa

Release date: March 31

I am not caught up with this trilogy either, but I am still looking forward to the final book! I actually haven’t seen the cover until now, and oh my gosh I love it.

I am sure there will be others along the way that will interest me, but for now, these are the ten that I am so ready to read!

What are some of your most anticipated release from January to March?

Colorful Covers | Red

I have been watching the Owlcrate team do this series on their YouTube channel and I think it is such a fun idea! So basically what’s going to happen is every moth I will pick a color and then recommend you a few books that have that specific color on it’s cover.

This month we are starting with RED!

As always, if you’d like to know more about any of these books, I have linked their Goodreads pages!

Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

Sixteen-year-old and not-so-openly gay Simon Spier prefers to save his drama for the school musical. But when an email falls into the wrong hands, his secret is at risk of being thrust into the spotlight. Now Simon is actually being blackmailed: if he doesn’t play wingman for class clown Martin, his sexual identity will become everyone’s business. Worse, the privacy of Blue, the pen name of the boy he’s been emailing, will be compromised.

We all knew this was going to make this list, right?! I’ve gushed about Simon to the point that you are probably tired of hearing about it! It’s one of my all time favorite books. It’s funny, intense and hopeful! I also highly recommend the movie Love, Simon! It is one of the best adaptations I have ever seen!

Shadow of the Fox by Julie Kagawa

One thousand years ago, the great Kami Dragon was summoned to grant a single terrible wish—and the land of Iwagoto was plunged into an age of darkness and chaos. Now, for whoever holds the Scroll of a Thousand Prayers, a new wish will be granted. A new age is about to dawn…

This book was a total surprise for me. I got it in an Owlcrate box last year and I hadn’t really heard anything about it before then. I decided just to pick it up one day and I am so glad that I did. I absolutely loved it! If you are looking for a book that is full of danger, demons, action and adventure…then you NEED to give this a try!

An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

Laia is a slave. Elias is a soldier. Neither is free.
It is in this brutal world, inspired by ancient Rome, that Laia’s brother is arrested for treason, Laia is forced to make a decision. In exchange for help from rebels who promise to rescue her brother, she will risk her life to spy for them from within the Empire’s greatest military academy. There, Laia meets Elias, the school’s finest soldier—and secretly, its most unwilling. Elias wants only to be free of the tyranny he’s being trained to enforce. He and Laia will soon realize that their destinies are intertwined—and that their choices will change the fate of the Empire itself.

For real though, if you don’t read any of the other books on this list…PLEASE read this one! I can’t even begin to tell you how much I adore this book. It is action packed and will have you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Sabaa Tahir’s writing, characters and world is stunning beyond belief! I’m actually planning to reread this very soon and I cannot wait!

This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab

Kate Harker and August Flynn are the heirs to a divided city—a city where the violence has begun to breed actual monsters. All Kate wants is to be as ruthless as her father, who lets the monsters roam free and makes the humans pay for his protection. All August wants is to be human, as good-hearted as his own father, to play a bigger role in protecting the innocent—but he’s one of the monsters. One who can steal a soul with a simple strain of music. When the chance arises to keep an eye on Kate, who’s just been kicked out of her sixth boarding school and returned home, August jumps at it. But Kate discovers August’s secret, and after a failed assassination attempt the pair must flee for their lives.

This Savage Song is dark, creepy and so unique! From the very beginning to the very end I was invested in the story. Schwab’s way of writing will make you completely lose track of time. You will be SO into the story that you blink and you have been reading for three hours. It’s amazing. I fell head over heels in love with the characters. August is precious and Kate is a baddass. This would be a perfect read for the upcoming fall season!

What are some of your favrotie books with red on the cover? Have you read any of the books I mentioned?

Hi everyone!

You know the drill…another month, another haul! Let’s get straight to it…

Soul of the Sword by Julie Kagawa

This is the sequel to Shadow of the Fox. The first book was so much fun & I’m sure this one will be too.

Daughter of the Burning City by Amanda Foody

I got this thinking I would read it for the Reading Rush but that didn’t end up happening. I got through like 50 pages then put it down. I was really enjoying it but didn’t want to rush through it during a readathon. Definitely picking it back up soon!

The Diviners by Libba Bray

I love Love LOVE this cover! I’m so excited to start this series in October!

Six of Crows & Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

Later this year I plan to reread & annotate this duopoly. I don’t want to write in my hardcover copies so I decided to get the paperbacks.

Ravenclaw Harry Potter editions

I had to!

Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim

This was the book pick for Owlcrate’s July box. It’s supposed to be a mix of Project Runway & Mulan sooo I am here for it!

Let me know what books you acquired last month!

July TBR

Hi everyone!

I have a smaller than usual TBR for this month. One reason is because there is a book that will probably take me ages to get through. The other reason is because I am planning to participate in The Reading Rush. I haven’t picked out my TBR for it just yet, so definitely look out for that post in a couple weeks.

Letters to the Lost by Brigid Kemmerer

This book is at the top of my list for the month! I cannot wait to pick it up. I recently read A Curse So Dark and Lonely by this author & LOVED it. I’m looking forward to seeing how she writes a young adult contemporary.

Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

Over on my Instagram I asked people to help me decide what books to add to my to July TBR & this one was the winner. I am going to be honest with you, this book intimidates me so much. I’m nervous to read it, but it’s going to happen.

Soul of the Sword by Julie Kagawa

This was actually on my June TBR, but I didn’t get this chance to pick it up. This is the sequel to Shadow of the Fox which was one of my favorite books of last year. Can’t wait to see what these characters are up to!

I hope you all have a fantastic reading month! Let me know what’s on you July TBR.

June TBR

How is it already June??

My goal for this month is just to stick to my TBR. I did a really good job at it last month so hopefully I can keep it up!

As always, I have shared the Goodreads link to all of these books…just in case!

Daisy Jones & the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

If you saw my most recent Goodreads TBR post, then you’ll know that I’ve been waiting for this audiobook for 50 years. Well, good news! My hold came through & I can finally see what all the hype is all about.

Dress Codes for Small Towns by Courtney Stevens

I’m a sucker for a book about friendship & I’ve heard this one is fantastic. Sign me up!

Soul of the Sword by Julie Kagawa

This is the second book in the Shadow of the Fox trilogy. I absolutely loved the first book last year. It was fun & full of adventure. The ending also set things up for what I’m sure will be an interesting sequel.

The Bride Test by Helen Hoang

I’ve talked about this book so many times. It’s the companion to The Kiss Quotient & I am beyond ready to read it!

What’s your TBR look like this month?? Are there any new releases you’re looking forward to?
