Find My Next Read Scavenger Hunt

My reading has been a mess lately. All the books I keep picking up are ones that I am apparently not in the mood for. I don’t know what is happening!

I figured I would do this tag and hopefully it will help me! Maybe since I’m not technically picking the book, I’ll want to read it??

I first saw this tag from booksandlala, but it was created by Peter Likes Books.

Grab your favorite book. Go to the acknowlegemdents, and the first name you see, find a book by an author with the same name.

My favorite book is Six of Crows! The first name I saw in the acknowledgements was Sarah. A book by an author with the same name is Havenfall.

Pick something on that cover and find another book with that thing in the title.

On Havenfall I see a moon and that automatically made me think of Bone Crier’s Moon by Kathryn Purdie.

Go to page 50, line 5. Pick a word from that line and find a title with that word in it.

Page 50, Line 5 says “Are you still talking?” Jules skips fast down the deer trail. I decided to pick the word *you* and the book I found was I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson

Find a 5 star read with the same colors on the cover.

I’ll Give You the Sun has tons of colors so I just went with one. A green 5 star read was Well Met by Jen DeLuca!

Find a book with the same number of pages.

Well Met has 328! I had to go to Goodreads to help me and turns out I don’t own any books with that exact number. So I’m going to cheat a little and go with 329 pages and that book is Heretics Anonymous by Katie Henry.

Flip open to any page. The first name you see, find a book by an author with who shares that name.

First name I saw was Lucy which led me to picking The Guest List by Lucy Foley.

Find another title with the same number of letters.

The Guest List has 12 letters and so does Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young.

Find a book with a similar cover.

The girl turning her head and looking makes me think of My Lady Jane

Flip to a random page. Point at a word and find that word in a book title on your TBR shelf

I pointed to the word *it* and found Call It What You Want on my TBR shelf.

Read!

Looks Like I am going to be reading Call It What You Want by Brigid Kemmerer next!

I’m actually really happy with how this turned out! I LOVE Brigid Kemmerer’s writing so fingers crossed this helps me get out of this weird mood!

What is the next book you plan to read??

WWW Wednesday

Today Is WWW Wednesday! This is hosted by Taking on a World of Words. It’s pretty simple, all you have to do is answer the three questions!

Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare

This will be my third time trying to read Clockwork Angel. For some reason I can’t get past a certain point. I always end up putting it down. Fingers crossed I can finish it this times around though because I REALLY want to read all of the Shadowhunter Chronicles.

The Life and (Medieval) Times of Kit Sweetly by Jamie Pacton

This was one of my most anticipated releases of 2020! The synopsis sounded right up my alley and I really though I was going to love this, but it was just an okay read for me. The overall message was fantastic but I feel like the book was trying to tackle way too much. Between work, family issues, college planning, friendships and romance, you never really knew what the main focus was supposed to be.

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

The Midnight Sun announcement really brought back all the nostalgia for me! I can’t be the only one who is planning to reread all the books and rewatch the movies. I am way to excited to revisit this story.

Reading & Watching Update

Hi everyone!

It is finally Friday…woohoo! This has been such a long and chaotic week for me, but surprisingly I did get a lot of reading & tv show watching done. Here’s a little update!

Currently Reading:

Girls on the Verge by Sharon Biggs Waller

I am only 60 pages into this, but so far it is VERY good. I’m finding it hard to put down so I’m sure I will finish it by the end of today or early tomorrow.

Recently Finished:

The Girl the Sea Gave Back by Adrienne Young

I’m so happy that I finally read this! I ended up giving it 4 stars. I really enjoyed it, but not as much as Sky in the Deep. I absolutely love Adrienne Young’s writing though. It is so beautiful and it’s easy to get lost between the pages.

Reading Next:

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling

I had no plans to start a reread of Harry Potter this year, but here we are! My library had the audiobook available so I borrowed it real quick. I’m also going to follow along with the illustrated edition. This will be my second time reading this series and I’m really looking forward to it!

Currently Watching:

The Office

I don’t normally like half hour comedies so I was a little iffy about watching this show, but y’all…I LOVE IT SO MUCH! It’s the most ridiculous show I have ever watched, but ugh it is so good. Jim, Pam, Dwight and Michael are the best characters in the entire world. I only have 5 episodes left and I am dragging them out. I don’t want this show to be over!

Watching Next:

Grimm

I really didn’t know what to watch after The Office so I asked on my Instagram and this show was the winner. Grimm sounds right up my alley & I am honestly surprised I haven’t watched it before now. Fingers crossed I love it!

WWW Wednesday

Hi everyone!

Today Is WWW Wednesday! This is hosted by Taking on a World of Words. It’s pretty simple, all you have to do is answer the three questions!

Winterwood by Shea Ernshaw

I would like to thank the book gods for gracing me with this ARC! 😂 For real though, I am over the moon to have an early copy of my most anticipated book of the year. I literally just started this last night so I don’t have much to say except Shea Ernshaw’s writing is beyond beautiful.

Reverie by Ryan La Sala

If this book isn’t on your TBR yet, you better go ahead and put it there! Reverie was such a fun & unique debut! My full review will go up closer to release date in December!

The Girl the Sea Gave Back by Adrienne Young

I am going to try my hardest to squeeze this in before Contemporary-a-thon starts on Monday. If I can’t manage to do that then you will definitely see this on my very ambitious October TBR!

As always, if you’d like to know more about any of these books, I have linked their Goodreads pages!

Always Never Yours by Emily Wibberley & Austin Siegemund-Broka

Life has been a little chaotic lately so I haven’t had much time to physically read anything so I decided to pick up an audiobook. I am really enjoying Always Never Yours! I am so into the theater aspect of the story. It’s definitely a lot of fun! I have about 2 hours left in the audio so I should be able to finish it today. Fingers crossed!

The Bone Houses by Emily Lloyd Jones

This was one of my most anticipated releases of the year & somehow I was able to snag me an ARC! This book was SO GOOD! It was so unique & creepy. My full review is scheduled for early September so look out for that!

Crown of Feathers by Nicki Pau Preto

I couldn’t pick what I wanted to read next so I did a poll over on my bookstagram! This book won by a mile. It’s been sitting on my TBR cart since February so it is about time I read it!

WWW Wednesday

Hello everyone!

Today Is WWW Wednesday! This is hosted by Taking on a World of Words. It’s pretty simple, all you have to do is answer the three questions!

I feel like my reading has been a disaster over the past week. After finishing my first book of July, I couldn’t find anything I wanted to read next. In a 24 hour span I started but then put down 3 books. I don’t know what is up with me. I feel like this has happened quite a lot this year.

As always, if you’d like to know more about any of these books, I have linked all of their Goodreads pages!

Fix Her Up by Tessa Bailey

I just started this book this morning and so far so good. It’s definitely keeping my attention which is exactly what I need right now!

She’s the Worst by Lauren Spieller

Last month I was approved for my first ever e-ARC on Netgalley! I got a little excited & had to start reading it ASAP! She’s the Worst was such a fun book about a sibling relationship. My full review will be up sometime in August. Release date is September 3.

A Lesson in Thorns by Sierra Simone

I’m not 100% sure about this yet. I’m hoping I have time to fit this book in before The Reading Rush starts next Monday!

The Princess and the Fangirl by Ashley Poston

I actually had no intention of picking this up this month. I noticed that my library added the audiobook so I snatched it up real quick. So far I am really enjoying it. I am LOVING the convention setting. My geeky heart is happy.

The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory

After I was disappointed by a very hyped book, I needed to read something cute & fun. I ended up giving this 3 stars. While it was what I needed, I expected it to be a little more steamy than it was. The sex scenes were fade to black which annoyed me.

Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson

I have actually already started this book, but decided to put it down for a few days. It’s summer break & with me being a nanny that means complete chaos Monday-Friday. I read chapter one while I was at work and could not focus on it at all. I’m going to pick it back up when I have some peace and quiet this weekend!

WWW Wednesday

Hello everyone!

Today Is WWW Wednesday! This is hosted by Taking on a World of Words. It’s pretty simple, all you have to do is answer the three questions.

Skyward by Brandon Sanderson

Well this wasn’t on my April TBR but I just felt the urge to pick it up. This is my first time reading anything by Brandon Sanderson & as of right now, it won’t be my last. I am loving Skyward. It’s fun & fast paced which I definitely needed right now.

The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang

Last week was a bit of a mess when it came to my reading. I started but then quickly put down three books. None of them really caught or held my attention. I had no idea what to pick up so I decided to just reread a favorite. The Kiss Quotient was already on my TBR, but not until later this month. I’m so happy I bumped it up though. This book is so sweet & steamy! I loved seeing these characters again.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

It’s finally happening! I’m beyond excited to start this book. I’m trying to not have high expectations, but it’s really hard when EVERYONE loves Evelyn Hugo!
