Netflix Book Tag

Hi everyone!

I don’t know about you but I watch Netflix every single day. Whether I’m watching reruns of favorite episodes or starting a new show…Netflix is my go to. When I saw this tag on Booktube a while back, I knew I needed to do it!

This tag was originally created by A Darker Shade of Whitney.

The Bone Houses by Emily Lloyd Jones! This was one of my most anticipated reads of the year & I’m happy to say that I absolutely loved this book! My review will be up very soon.

After I finished The Illuminae Files a few months ago I was looking for something similar to the series and someone on my bookstagram recommended Contagion by Erin Bowman!

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo. I’m realllllyyyy hoping the one I bought is actually the orginal cover…we will see!

Read: Caraval by Stephanie Garber & The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Not interested: A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas and Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

Heretics Anonymous by Katie Henry. The humor in this book is 10/10 amazing. I highly recommend picking this up if you haven’t already!

America Singer from The Selection. Can we all agree on this one?!

I feel like everyone probably picks this answer, but Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia.

I’m always down to reread Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo.

Becoming by Michelle Obama. Her story is beautiful and inspiring!

Skyward by Brandon Sanderson. This book is full of pilot fighting scenes and they are incredible!

Y’all are probably tired of me saying this, but I am SO excited for Winterwood by Shea Ernshaw!

That’s all! I hope you enjoyed this tag because I sure did. It was a fun one to do. I’m going to go watch Netflix now…😊

Top Ten Tuesday: Cover Redesigns

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish but is now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl!

This week the prompt is *cover changes that I love/hate*

For one reason or another, book covers get changed all the time. Some of them are a needed change, while others not so much…

The Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo

When I saw that this was the topic for the week, these books were the first that came to my mind. Yes, the new covers are pretty & they fit the story a little bit better, but I still think that the original ones are perfect in every way!

An Ember in the Ashes by Sabba Tahir

I know some people don’t really like the cover change for this one. I think the new cover is gorgeous! I love that Laia and Elias are on the cover….yess for representation! I will say that I didn’t like the fact that it was only available in paperback, but now that it is being released in hardcover so I can’t even complain anymore!

The Diviners by Libba Bray

Can we all agree on this one?? I mean obviously the original cover is better, right?? I will never understand why this change was made!

Prince Charming by Rachel Hawkins

Not only did this get a new cover, it got a new title as well! I have to admit the original cover is ugly. It’s too plain and it doesn’t represent the story at all. The new cover though….heart eyes for days!

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

I may just be the only person who likes the hardcover better for this one. Don’t get me wrong, I like that SImon and Baz are on the paperback, but I really like the other one better.  This answer could change once I actually read the book though soooo check back later.

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

Okay so a little different one. This is the Owlcrate edition vs the original. I actually love both of these. It’s so cool that they were able to completely change the cover. I do think their edition fits the story better though.

That’s all for now! I definitely have more I can add so I will have to do a part two soon.

Tell me one of your favorite cover changes in the comments!

Bookshelf Scavenger Hunt Tag

Hi everyone!

So today I am going to search through my bookshelf to find the answers to these questions! Some are super easy, some were difficult to find.

I know this won’t be as fun as watching it on Booktube, but I did include a picture of my tiny bookshelf & TBR cart at the end of the post! I do have more places where I put my books, but these two places is where I will be picking from the most!

I do not know who created this tag so…

1. Find an author name or title with a Z in it.
Jeff Zentner

2. Find a classic.
I don’t own any. I know, I’m so sorry!

3. Find a book with a key on it.
I really had to search for this one and I ended up with nothing!

4. Find something on your bookshelf that is not a book.
My Sam Winchester Funko POP!

5. Find the oldest book on your shelf.
Well I didn’t get back into reading until a few years ago so most of my books are newer. I don’t even have any from my childhood or anything like that. I guess I have to go with Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, I have had it the longest.

6. Find a book with a girl on it.
Skyward by Brandon Sanderson

7. Find a book that has an animal on it.
Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo has a crow!

8. Find a book with a male protagonist.
Harry Potter! Hahaha that’s too easy.

9. Find a book with only words on the cover.
I’ll Give You the Sun By Jandy Nelson! Got to love those weird paperbacks.

10. Find a book with illustrations in it.
Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia

11. Find a book with gold lettering.
Legendary by Stephanie Garber! My fave!

12. Find a diary, true or fictional.
This may be cheating a bit, but Stay Sweet by Siobhan Vivian has diary entries in it. I’m counting it!

13. Find a book written by an author with a common name (like Smith).
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. Is her name common enough?

14. Find a book with a close up of something on it.
Undead Girl Gang my Lily Anderson. It has a close up of a jean jacket pocket.

15. Find a book on your shelf that takes place in the earliest time period.
Uhhh, well I’m really bad at remembering time periods. So maybe Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco.

16. Find a hardcover book without a jacket.
The collectors edition of Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo!

17. Find a teal/turquoise colored book.
Heretics Anonymous by Katie Henry

18. Find a book with stars on it.
Girl Made of Stars by Ashley Herring Blake. Please read this book!

19. Find a non YA book.
Hahaha you almost got me there. I read mostly YA, but I do have a few adult books so I pick The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang!

Mid Year Book Freakout Tag

Hi everyone!

So today I’m going to be summing up my reading for the first half of the year! I have watched people do this tag for years & I am so excited that I finally have a place to do it for myself!

This tag was created by Ely and Chami

Best book you’ve read so far in 2019.

Starting off with the hardest question! I could go with so many books ,but I am going to have to pick Gemina by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff!. It blew my mind. Every page left me wanting more. I read half of this book in one day, which is something I never do. I want to reread it ASAP!

Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2019.

I mean, I could answer Gemina for this one too. Hahaha, no repeats though! This definitely goes to The Wicked King by Holly Black! I got a crazy book hangover after finishing this. I loved the romance, the politics and the ending! Literally dying for The Queen of Nothing!

A new release you haven’t read yet, but want to.

So many. I am really behind on new releases. Serious Moonlight by Jenn Bennett is one that I was really looking forward to but haven’t had the chance to pick up yet!

Most anticipated release for the second half of the year.

Hands down Winterwood by Shea Ernshaw. I recently shared my most anticipated releases for the rest of 2019, you can read that post here!

Biggest disappointment.

The Bride Test by Helen Hoang. I am still bummed out about this one. I feel like I set my hopes a little bit too high. I loved The Kiss Quotient with my entire heart & was so excited when I heard there was going to be a companion. Unfortunately, The Bride Test didn’t live up to my expectations.

Biggest surprise.

Stay Sweet by Siobhan Vivian! This book was everything I didn’t even know I needed. I went into it expecting just a fluffy romance but I got SO much more than that. I loved it!

Favorite new author (debut or new to you)

Taylor Jenkins Reid for sure. I have read two of her books so far this year and both were incredible. She writes such realistic characters. I cannot wait to read more from her!

Newest fictional crush.

Grey from A Curse So Dark and Lonely. Swoon!!! He is kind of moody & intimidating but has a heart of gold! If you’ve read this book …you know!

Newest favorite character.

Hanna Donnelly from Gemina. I know I said no repeats, but I can’t help it for this one. She’s a badass & a force to be reckoned with!

Book that made you cry.

The Serpent KIng by Jeff Zentner. It broke my heart into a million pieces and honestly, I am STILL not over it.

Book that made you happy.

Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston. Just honking about this book puts a smile on my face. The representation, the supportive family, the friendships, the romance…I loved it all!

Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year..

Finale by Stephanie Garber. I have the UK paperback and it’s beautiful inside and out.

What books do you need to read by the end of the year.

I have a mile long list, but the one at the top is The Diviners by Libba Bray. I’ve heard nothing but good about it & I will for sure read it by the end of 2019!

That’s it! I feel like my reading year has been pretty good so far. I’m definitely looking forward to the rest of the year. There is a lot of 5 star potential coming up!

Pride Flag Book Tag

Hi everyone!

Okay so last year Common Spence on Booktube created a book tag that I absolutely loved! At that time I didn’t have a place to do the tag, but this year I do. So today you are getting the Pride Flag Book Tag!

Before I start, I highly recommend you go watch Spencer’s original video. He gives you a little history lesson about the Pride Flag! It’s fantastic!

*Each question is based on the colors & meaning of the rainbow flag!*

❤️ RED (Life): A book with a spirited protagonist who is totally proud of who they are. Someone who gives you life!

I definitely have to go with Evelyn from The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid!! She is unapologetically bisexual & a total queen!.

🧡 ORANGE (Healing): A book that nade you, as the reader, find a deeper meaning or catharsis in you own life.

I feel like I could answer this question with Evelyn Hugo too, but no repeats! So I’m going to go with a recent read…Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston. There were many times during this book that I related to Alex so much & yeah, I’ll leave it at that!

💛 YELLOW (Sunshine): A book that fills you with so much joy it could brighten even your darkest day.

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo! I love the world, the characters and the relationships! This book has my heart forever!

💚 GREEN (Nature): A book that is set out of this world — a a reality different to our own.

The Raging Ones by Krista & Becca Ritchie! I never hear anyone talk about this book so I’m happy I can bring it up! This book is set in a world where everyone knows the day they are going to die. No one ever lives past that day, except Court, Mykal & Franny did. The relationship between these characters is unlike anything I have ever read! I want more people to read this because it’s SO GOOD!

💙 BLUE (Peace): A book where one of the characters finds peace with a difficult truth.

Ramona Blue by Julie Murphy. We follow Ramona as she is discovering her sexuality. This book is SO well done & I love it a whole bunch!

💜 PURPLE (Spirit): A book that deals with LGBTQ+ themes & religion.

I had a hard time finding an answer for this one. I’ve seen a lot of people say Autoboyography by Christina Lauren, which is a book I really liked. I was trying to think of something different but I can’t soooo Autoboyography it is!

Happy Pride Month! What are some of your favorite LGBTQ+ books??

Unpopular Opinions Book Tag

Hi everyone!

I am so excited to do this tag. It’s one of my favorite videos to watch on Booktube. I think it’s so interesting to hear all the different opinions!

Originally created by The Book Archer

What is a popular book or series that you didn’t like?

Starting off really controversial! I have to say The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. I didn’t like the writing style at all & I was bored throughout most of the story. I was so disappointed.

What is a popular book or series that everyone else seems to hate but you love?

The Selection series by Kiera Cass. I don’t necessarily LOVE these books, but I did really enjoy them. I thought they were super fun & quick reads.

What is a love triangle in a book or series where the main character ended up with the person you did not want them to end up with?

Hands down Katniss & Peeta. I didn’t even want her to *choose* Gale either. She should have ended up alone!

What is a popular book genre that you hardly reach for?

Adult fantasy. It intimidates me so much.

What is a popular or beloved character that you do not like?

Warner from the Shatter Me series. I don’t get why people like him so much. Don’t hate me for this one please!!

Who is a popular author that you can’t seem to get into?

Sophie Kinsella. I have tried reading a few of her books, unfortunetly the writing just isn’t for me.

What is a popular book trope that you are tired of seeing?

Definitely instalove. It can be done well, but most of the time it’s over the top ridiculous.

What is a popular book or series that you have no interest in reading?

The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater. I have read the first two books but I have zero interest in the last two. This series is so confusing.

What is a movie or TV show adaption of a book or series that you like more than the book/s?

Twilight for sure. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the books, but the movies were my everything as a teenager. So much nostalgia there!

I’d love to hear some of your answers to these questions!

What is the book that got you into reading?

My Life in Books Tag

Hi everyone!

Today I am going to do the My Life in Books tag. It’s short and sweet so here we go!

1. Find a book for each of your initials.

S: Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

M: My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton and Jodi Meadows

N: The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah

2. Count your age along your bookshelf. What book is it?

The 24th book on my shelf is Shadow of the Fox by Julie Kagawa. I absolutely love this book. It’s action packed & full of adventure.

3. Pick a book set in your city/country.

I live in a small little town so I highly doubt there is a book set here. So I’m going to switch it up a bit. I haven’t read this book yet, but I know Dress Codes for Small Towns by Courtney C. Stevens is set in Kentucky, which is the state I live in. That’s about as close as I can get.

4. Pick a book that represents a destination you’d love to travel to.

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare, which is set in New York City. This answer may be a little lame. I mean, I could literally pick anywhere in the world, but I’ve always wanted to go to NYC!

5. Pick a book that’s your favorite color.

My favorite color is pink so I am going to have to choose Queens of Geek by Jen Wilde. I love this cover so much. It’s so pretty & simple.

6. Which book do you have the fondest memories of?

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. This was he first book that I really fell in love with!

7. Which book did you have the most difficulty reading?

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. I wanted to DNF it so many times. It took me well over half the book to get interested in the story. I didn’t like the writing style. It was a struggle.

8. Which book on your TBR pile will give you the biggest accomplishment when you finish it?

A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir. I keep telling myself I am going to read this book, but I always end up pushing it back. I’m going to be extremely happy when I finally finish it.

That’s it! Feel free to do this tag yourself or answer the questions in the comments.

Reading Habits Book Tag

Everyone has their weird habits, especially while reading! Here are mine…

Do you have a certain place at home for reading?

Yes, kind of. Most of the time I read in my room on my bed. Give me a big cozy blanket and I could stay there for hours.

Bookmark or random piece of paper?

I always forget to grab a bookmark before I set down, so I tend to reach for whatever is next to me. Things like receipts, Bobby pins, hair ties, my phone,…they’ve al been used as bookmarks.

Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/certain amount of pages?

I have to finish a chapter before I put a book down. I’ve tried stoping in the middle, but it just doesn’t work for me. I end up having to reread the first part anyway.

Do you eat or drink while reading?

Sometimes I will have a drink, but I never eat while reading. I’m too scared that something will get on my page and ruin it. That would be a nightmare!

Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?

No way! I like it to be super quiet. I lose focus very easily if there are any other distractions around me.

One book at a time or several?

One book. There are times when I listen to an audiobook alongside whatever I am physically reading though.

Reading at home or anywhere?

At home. If I had a Kindle though, I would take that thing everywhere.

Read out loud or silently in your head?

Silently in my head…100%. Honestly, I hate reading out loud. It was my biggest fear all throughout school.

Do you read ahead or skip pages?

NOPE! I could never do this. Not knowing what is going to happen may drive me crazy, but that’s the fun of reading.

Breaking the spine or keeping it like mew?

 Like new…for the most part.

Do you write in your books?

I did annotate an ARC once and I actually really enjoyed it. So as of right now, no I don’t, but I would like to start doing this more.

There you go. I hope you learned a little bit about me as a reader. Feel free to answer these questions in the comments!

*I’m not sure who the creator of this tag is. If you know, please fill me in. I want to make sure the credit goes to them*
