This is a series where every other month I share 3-5 books I’ve recently added to my *to read* shelf on Goodreads! As always, if you’d like more information about any of these books, I have linked all of their GR pages.
She’s the Worst byLauren Spielller
Sisters April & Jenn haven’t been close in years. They have different priorities. When April notices her sister is sad about staying home from college, she decides to to something about it. The sisters spend a day exploring the greatest hits of their childhood. April soon learns that Jenn has been keeping a secret that could rip their family apart.
I love books about sibling relationships. This seems like it’s going to be a mix of fun & hard hitting. I recently got an e-ARC of She’s the Worst & can’t wait to get into it. Release date is September 3.
A Lesson in Thorns by Sierra Simone
When librarian Poe Markham takes the job at Thornchapel, she only wants two things: to stay away from Thornchapel’s tortured owner, Auden Guest, and to find out what happened to her mother twelve years ago. It should be easy enough—keep her head down while she works in the house’s crumbling private library and while she hunts down any information as to why this remote manor tucked into the fog-shrouded moors would be the last place her mother was seen alive. But Thornchapel has other plans for her…
So a lot of people read this during Smutathon last month & they seemed to really love it. I recently finished another book by Sierra Simone and it was SO good. I’m excited to read more from her.
The Grace Year by Kim Liggett
In this YA dystopian girls are told they have the power to lure grown men from their beds, drive women mad with jealousy. They believe their very skin emits a powerful aphrodisiac, the potent essence of youth, of a girl on the edge of womanhood. That’s why they’re banished for their sixteenth year, to release their magic into the wild so they can return purified and ready for marriage. But not all of them will make it home alive.
A few weeks ago I heard Korrina at Owlcrate talk about this book. She said she really enjoyed it but it was way too dark to use for a box. Just from the synopsis I can definitely tell The Grace Year is going to be difficult read. Release date is October 8.
That’s all for this month. Next round will be in September.
What have you added to your *To Read* shelf lately??
